…Without too many spoilers, the famous scene in Quantum of Solace, besides being lifted from early GoldenEye storyboards, is actually highly realistic, as opposed to the CGI-misbegotten stuff of Die Another Day.
A recent American Cinematagrapher issue reveals how a wind tunnel, capable of replicating human terminal velocity and 150 m.p.h. winds was employed, as was extensive physics research. The scene closely resembles what actual humans would do in Bond and Camille’s desperate situation.
Authentic action, expansive, Ken Adam-ish sets and an eye for cinematography help keep QOS from being muddled by Forster’s jagged action close-ups. Over time, Quantum should prove to be a top Bond film. I think it has left that mark already.

I’ve seen it twice. Generally I think it was a good (not great) movie with some bad stuff, sometimes I think it was a bad movie with some very good stuff.
But the freefall scene in question was absolutely tops.
I know that this is a boring movie next to his last one, Daniel is not bon d and he doesn’t even smile and no sence of humor. I will not see his nexr.
Quantum of Solace was simply not a Bond movie…..The majority of Bond fans go to see a few basic concepts….
1. Gadgets worthy of the best agent on the planet
2. A Bond who is is worldly smart and clever beyond belief
3. A Bond that has a humorous side
4. A Bond that scores with many beautiful woman
5. An opening that is spectacular
QoS failed regarding all of the above. QoS is simply like so many shows you can see every week on TV. The sales numbers will fall off sharply every week. I personally know of 14 people that wanted to attend but after hearing what people said about movie decided not to go….I am only one person…take this across the country and this Bond film will not do anywhere near what it could have financially.
To me it is so simple….just do not understand why the directors and producers just do not get it.
