This is interesting. And of course, Barbara Broccoli, co-producer of the Bond films, is referred to in a headline, in an article about feminism, as “Cubby Broccoli’s daughter” without apparent irony. and yes, she is Cubby’s daughter, and that’s meaningful, but if the article was about Michael Wilson, the headline would have named him or his job, not his male parent.
Barbara feels the female characters who played opposite Connery were early feminist icons. I agree. Many feminists will disagree, but like any huge movement, there’s lots of debate within feminism. The article, of course, says “Miss Broccoli’s comments have infuriated feminists.” Not “Some feminists,” just “feminists,” as if we were a monolithic group. This feminist is not furious.
