I suppose I like the song better, having seen the video. It’s a classy piece of work, yet still disjointed. What do you think?
No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to blog!

CBn has a comprehensive run-down of the marketing tie-ins for Quantum of Solace. Quantum of Solace may even end up nearing the record total of 20 partners that were featured in 2002’s Die Another Day—a film that some critics labeled ‘Buy Another Day’.
Well, he helped. “I was involved in making the decision. Names were coming out, some ludicrous stuff was going back and forth – I can’t remember exactly, but you know the sort of thing, ‘The Blood On Your Face’,” he said. “I knew I didn’t want ‘death’, ‘die’, ‘bleed’ or any of those things in [...]
The blog Get Religion speculates on the religious leanings of James Bond. I assume Bond was raised in the Church of England, but pays little attention to it. He views himself as seeing an underbelly that the regular churchgoer doesn’t see, and, as a paid killer, is outside its moral frame of reference.
Last night, it was Ned Flanders chasing Homer Simpson in Fox’s latest Simpsons episode. Most of the chase was a takeoff of Casino Royale’s parkour chase, with the cartoon characters bouncing off walls, cars and down and around a construction site. Someone in Simpsons TV land really likes James Bond!
Not identical to the one in my book (even accounting for Casino Royale), this is an interesting list, similar to my own, with some very thrilling stunts. One thing that happens is, the people surveyed tend to be given a list to choose from, and what goes on that list makes a big difference. This [...]
Here’s a delightful interview with Moore that runs 3 Internet pages. He’s plugging his book, but by page 2, the interview is fantasizing about marrying him. They mention the Saint, his age, Bond, Connery, and Amy Winehouse.
CHAPTER 14 – ‘LA VIE EN ROSE?’
The entrance to the Roi Galant was a seven-foot golden picture-frame which had once, perhaps, enclosed the vast portrait of a noble European. It was in a discreet corner of the ‘kitchen’ – the public roulette and boule room, where several tables were still busy. As Bond took Vesper’s arm and led her over the gilded step, he fought back a hankering to borrow some money from the caisse and plaster maximums over the nearest table… In the far corner, a trio, consisting of a piano, an electric guitar and drums, was playing ‘La Vie en Rose’ with muted sweetness.” – Casino Royale
Here is Edith Piaf’s version with words. The tune is considered a French standard that exemplifies the nation like America’s Stars and Stripes Forever.
This is interesting. And of course, Barbara Broccoli, co-producer of the Bond films, is referred to in a headline, in an article about feminism, as “Cubby Broccoli’s daughter” without apparent irony. and yes, she is Cubby’s daughter, and that’s meaningful, but if the article was about Michael Wilson, the headline would have named him or [...]
Lana Wood (Plenty O’Toole in Diamonds Are Forever), Natalie Wood’s sister and therefore sister-in-law (twice) to Robert Wagner, spent much time in Wagner’s home as mentioned in her story, Natalie: A Memoir By Her Sister. Wagner, of course, remarried to Jill St. John, also of Diamonds, so expect for numerous Bond references in the new book available now for pre-order from Amazon and other outlets.
