Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWhy haven’t you redirected the old site to the new one? Redirects have been about almost as long as HTTP.
OIC – the old blog was at wordpress.com, so it’s not that simple. http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/09/09/can-i-redirect-my-blog/ syas that wordpress.com doesn’t support this basic feature of the web. That’s a surprise and a disappointment. Naughty WordPress.com.
MJ, I left wordpress.com in part because the free site hosting strips out many basic features that I wish to use.
The old site was started by my publisher, but the person who maintained it quit, and the new person isn’t web savvy. Since I’m donig it on my own now, I wanted more control.
Nice facelift…looks much ‘cleaner’ and elegant.
Thanks, Jay. It’s a free theme that I customized (I created the header graphic myself, from jpgs of the book cover).
I like the site theme better, too. It looks a bit odd with graphics switched off (or until the graphics load, or from my mobile phone… whatever) so you might want to set some alt tags and background-color. If you’re using Firefox, I think it’s Edit: Preferences: Content: uncheck Load Images to test. In IE it’s a pig, somewhere in the Advanced options. The comment font size is right on the limit of readable here. Please don’t go any smaller, but that’s OK.
Thanks, MJ, that’s good input. I’m slow and dumb at editing css, so it won’t happen quickly, but I think overall it’s more readable.
This style also does this weird thing where the “em” tag doesn’t italicize, it makes the text small and gray, instead (but the “i” tag does italicize). Most styles show “i” and “em” as identical (but it’s still best to distinguish between them because translators for the visually impaired read them differently).
Oops. “admin” is me.
When I click on “comments” it takes a minute or two to come on,I have DSL but it acts like dial up,I did not have this problem on your old site,,,Every thing else is great…..
It might be the Google Ads. I’m looking into it.
