No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to blog!
Jaws (a.k.a. actor Richard Kiel) turns 68 today. Many happy returns!
Over the last fifty years or so, the very singular style that is Bond has undergone adaptation, repretition, appropriation, imitation, and caricature…There is an abundance of written and cinematic material that has borrowed and capitalized upon the particular habits and idiosyncrasies of the world’s most famous spy. Many of these texts take the form of [...]
In comments, Zippertuck asks:
I am a bit confused as to exactly when CR takes place and wondering, even though he was shoved down a smokestack in FYEO, if Blofeld could ever return for an more appropriate death? Never ever liked how Bond never truly got to avenge the death of his wife in true Bondian [...]
I’m sure you’re thinking Teri Hatcher; star of Desperate Housewives and Bond girl/sacrificial lamb from Tomorrow Never Dies.
But what of Nicolette Sheridan? She is the daughter of Sally (aka Dani) Sheridan. Her step-father is Telly Savalas; Telly and Dani began their relationship on the set of OHMSS.
Any other connections?
CBn is reporting that Jesper Christensen, who played Mr. White in Casino Royale, is on-board for Bond 22.
Mr White was, of course, last seen being confronted by Agent 007 on the bank of Lake Como in Italy.
The composer of GoldenEye turns 48 today. Lousy film score, but happy birthday anyway.
Today would have been Peter Sellers’s 82th birthday. I don’t normally pay that much attention to the “other” Casino Royale, but Sellers did play “James Bond” (as well as so many other wonderful characters, including Dr. Strangelove himself).
Commander Bond has the scoop on an extensive Variety interview with the Bond 22 team, including Barbara Broccoli, Paul Haggis, and Marc Foster.
Haggis elaborates, but only slightly: “I can tell you it starts right where ‘Casino’ left off. Yes, Bond will be going after the organization that we hinted at.” So, Bond 22 will be [...]
A correspondent asks the following:
I am just curious if you know why Eon didn’t simply show Anthony Dawson in the Bond films where Blofeld appears and dub his voice again by Eric Pohlmann for the sake of continuity and consistency. After all, they have often used actors seen as other characters in different roles, [...]
The Daily Express has a cute interview excerpt from Roger Moore.
“I made seven Bond films and they were all successful,” insists Moore. “Maybe I could have done with one of Pierce Brosnan’s – or rather I could have done with one of Pierce’s pay cheques!”
Nice. Because Roger doesn’t make enough money. Of course, the Express [...]
