Ok, it’s 08/01/1942, and this comes from the most official source available to the public. I’m astonished to learn that in the official site of the National School of Cinema (Rome) where he is a professor they had a simple birth date wrong (and not only there). Btw, for exams, usually here they’re not very keen about us using the net as official source of info, unless it’s a very official site we are quoting. When it comes to dealing with very recent events, or still living people, it’s a real pain. I’m fortunate enough I found this 2002 book dedicated to Giannini’s career and biography. And yeash, they’d take exquisite pleasure from catching me (student) slipping on a birthday. No kidding here. I’m moving off-topic now, sorry for my numerous -and previously erroneous- posts. I’ve uploaded some photos of G.G. for sharing, hope you all like them.

Well, I think it’d be great to find out, but if you present, during exam discussion, that there are multiple sources with different dates, then the examiner can’t fault you.

Well, true. Now I’m determined to find out his birthday with 100% of accuracy (since I’m working on an exam where he’s one of the main subjects, I’ve his biography on the way. When I get it, I’ll post here the date. I’d be a big problem for me to mess up his b-day during the exam discussion -_-).

Oh, btw, he was born on 13th July 1942. I was uncertain about 1st August so I checked on various Italian sites. The most reliable is probably this one:

The official site of the Cinema academy of Italy. It says 13 July. Many sites around make him a little younger with August the first, but most Ita pages have him born on July the 13th. I’m 99% sure this is the correct day. Pity I can’t ask him in person for confirmation

He’s aging pretty well. If you have ways to watch his ’70s movies directed by Lina Wertmuller you won’t be disappointed. He’s the best living Italian actor after all.

The film version leaves it open. Most fans believe he’s a good guy, but perhaps that’s because we’ve read the book.

I found it interesting that the film version makes him out to be a bad guy, since in the novel he is a really good guy and good friend of Bond. It will be interesting to see where this leads.
